Our Favorite Green Paint Colors: Timeless, Moody & Fresh

Green is one of our go-to colors in interior design - it’s grounding, versatile, and brings a sense of calm to any space. From soft gray-greens to rich olives, green can act as a neutral or make a bold statement.

We’re constantly testing new colors in our projects, but these five green shades have stood the test of time and continue to be our go-to choices:

1. Sherwin Williams Pewter Green (SW 6208)

Pewter Green strikes the perfect balance between deep and muted. With just a hint of gray, it’s a calming shade that feels timeless. We love how it shifts throughout the day, giving a space quiet dimension. We've used it at full strength, but also at 50% and 75% strength, and all variations have looked beautiful. Adjusting the formula can help you get just the right depth of color for your space.

Where we’d use it: Kitchen and bar cabinets, bathroom vanities, or in an office for a moody vibe.

2. Farrow & Ball French Gray (No. 18)

Don’t let the name fool you - French Gray leans green, especially in natural light. It’s soft and nuanced, with subtle shifts depending on the time of day. Elegant, calming, and endlessly versatile, this shade feels traditional but could also be very modern in the right setting.

Where we’d use it: Bedrooms, living rooms, or laundry rooms.

3. Sherwin Williams Rooftop Garden (SW 9127)

Looking for a green that feels organic but not overly saturated? Rooftop Garden is fresh and slightly mossy, with a subtle softness that makes it incredibly easy to live with. It works well in both sunny and dimly lit spaces.

Where we’d use it: Color-drenched in an office, laundry room, or on trim and interior windows for a subtle pop.

4. Benjamin Moore Vintage Vogue (462)

If you want drama, this is your green. Vintage Vogue is a deep, smoky green with gray undertones. It’s a beautiful alternative to navy or charcoal for clients who want something a little bit dark and unexpected.

Where we’d use it: Libraries, powder rooms, or moody media rooms with low lighting.

5. Benjamin Moore Oil Cloth (CSP-760)

Oil Cloth leans toward a green-gray neutral, making it an ideal wall color for clients who want color without the commitment. It’s subtle, sophisticated, and shifts beautifully throughout the day depending on the light.

Where we’d use it: Kitchen cabinetry, living rooms, bedrooms, or anywhere you want a soft, earthy backdrop.

Pro Tip:

Greens can shift dramatically depending on lighting and surrounding finishes, so we always recommend sampling on a few walls and viewing the color at different times of day before committing.

Whether you’re leaning traditional or modern, muted or bold, there’s a green paint that can bring just the right amount of depth and soul to your space. These five shades are some of our favorites—and we keep coming back to them again and again.
